Fashion Biograpy: Mrs. Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour! What statements come to mind? The redesigner of fashion, Empress of couture, apparent inspiration of The Devil wears Prada's Miranda Priestly, Nuclear Wintour and the controller of the most elite and successful fashion magazine the world has ever seen; Vogue!
Anna Wintour was born in London, England in 1949. Her father was Charles Wintour, the editor of the Evening Standard, as one notable realtive. Her great-great-great grandmother was late-18th century beauty Lady Elizabeth Foster, Duchess of Devonshire, and Sir Augustus Vere Foster, 4th and last Baronet, was a greatuncle.
Anna adapted her well-known pageboy haircut when she was 14, and frequently rebelled against the schools dress codes by taking up her skirts.
She married child psychiatrist David Schaffer, but after two children, divorced to much media attention. She slowly raised herself through positions to positions, climbing the ladder of success as she went, until today becoming the editor-in-chief of Vogue.
Lauren Weisberger, an assistant of Wintour's in the early 2000's, wrote the incredibly successful The Devil wears Prada, later turned into a huge film. Due to the many similarities between Miranda and Anna, many believed Miranda to be based on Anna; they are both British, both have two children, both are divorced and both serve on The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Wintour attended the film's premiere, dressed head-to-toe in Prada.
Wintour has often been the target of human rights groups, such as PETA, who take action against her for her continual wearing of fur on herself, and in Vogue. She says she has been physically attacked by activists she's "lost count". In Paris in October 2005, she was hit by a tofu pie while waiting to enter the Chloe show. On another occassion, an activist dumped a dead racoon on her plate in a restaurant, she told a waiter to remove it.
Certainly the most delicious subject of this piece is set to revolve around fashion, but i couldnt resist delving into the perks of the editor in chief of the biggest fashion magazine ON THE PLANET! Her salary is reported to be $2 million ($4 million AUD) a year, she receives a chauffeured Mercedes S-class, in New York and on abroad trips, a $200,000 ($400,000 AUD) shopping allowance and the Coco Chanel Suite at The Ritz whenever attending European shows. Vogue's publishing company also gave Wintour a $1.6 million ($3.2 million AUD) interest-free loan to buy her townhouse in the Upper East Side.
She was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2008
Her trademark pageboy haircut and large sunglasses are now signature Wintour in the front row of many fashion shows.
I for one, offer my commendations to this incredibly strong-willed woman who made the fashion world her oyster.
Apart from the fur view, I now advertise myself as entirely pro Wintour!!!
:)
